Non Bank lenders changing face of commercial property lending

An article in FT today really hit nail on head; we as a Banking & Real Estate Finance department agree that the nature of lenders who instruct us as lawyers on commercial property refinance or lend to our borrower clients are from a much wider market than pre-crisis lending. 

A quarter of the new financing last year came from non-bank lenders, in a marked shift from the pre-crisis lending landscape, in which banks were heavily exposed to highly-valued real estate assets.
